Browser extension or desktop app?
AdGuard is easy to overbuy if the problem is only a noisy browser. The browser extension handles ads, trackers and other web-page filtering inside the browser, which may be enough for many people.
The desktop app changes the scope. It runs filtering outside a single browser and can cover broader device traffic. AdGuard’s Browser Assistant is then used as a control surface for the desktop app rather than as a second standalone blocker.
When broader filtering is worth considering
The desktop app makes more sense if you use several browsers, want filtering beyond one browser session, or need more control over HTTPS and filtering rules. If you only want to remove ads and trackers from one browser, start with the extension before paying for a wider setup.
